Margaret Wilson Interior Design & Decoration

At Margaret Wilson & Co. we are first and foremost designers, but we are also planners, researchers, coordinators, and managers. Our main job is to understand our clients.

Why? Because good design is about bringing our personalities to life. A representation of our souls and priorities. What lights us on fire? perhaps it’s entertaining? cooking? studying? play?

We design spaces that are perfect balance of aesthetic beauty and functionality, always with your unique personality at the forefront.

Let us show you what 15+ years of design expertise can do.

Our Process

 Our Process

What do we do?

Simply put, we create beautiful interiors. Additionally, we manage the design planning, procurement, and installation of the perfect Interior.

But, there are a lot of steps in this process…

Understanding

Our main job is to understand our clients. We get to know who you are and how you live: from your reading collection, to your closets, all the way to the little accessories you keep by your bedside.

After understanding how your space intends to be used, we get to know your space to the nearest centimeter…

Specification and Design Planning

The details are then thoughtfully decided upon based on our understanding of you and your space: from the big decisions of furniture, fabric, lighting, and cabinetry to the little details of what trim to have on a throw pillow.

After integrating your ideas with our design expertise, we convey everything into plans: space plans, lighting plans, furniture selections, color palettes, cabinet designs, flooring selections, etc… The sky’s the limit with our Custom Designs Service.

We then work with you to finalize the design plan, and the magic begins…

Sourcing and Procurement

Sourcing from hundreds of possible vendors can be a daunting task. At Margaret Wilson & Co., we pride ourselves on our knowledge and access to workrooms and vendors from across the globe.

Our design team consistently discovers the best of local markets, artisans, custom pieces and antiques. We are your one stop access to a world of design.

Project Management and Development:

This is where we take the vision we have worked so hard to imagine together, and start to put together the puzzle pieces. Sometimes the puzzle can be complicated, but that’s why we are here.

We use our trusted network of over 30 contractors, vendors and artisans to bring the design to fruition. This includes all the nitty gritty details of supply deliveries, all the way to overseeing and ensuring the quality of the design plan implementation.

Our project management capabilities ensure that each design element is given the attention it deserves. We take care of the details so you don’t have to.

All these elements add up to the delivery of the perfect Interior. Let us show you our 15+ years of professionalism and timeless design.

Our Philosophy

Our Philosophy

Interior Design is about Well Being.

There is nothing simple about great design although great design may, at times,  be simple. We are here to make sure that your space is a unique representation of your personality. We want to make sure that the second you walk into your house after a long day of work, that you truly feel at home.

A well-designed and well proportioned room will sing. Our services make your home beautiful and your life easier. The decision process is simplified and vetted. Our attention to function, selections, and finally the details, finishes, accessories, and personal touches bring a room to life. Good design should be all around us and YOU.

Time, Decisions, and The forgotten Details

Time

It is about time. Your time.

Busy is a disease, and we all are suffering from it. We are here to make your life easier.

Let us handle the details.

Decisions, Decisions, Decisions…

It is about making the right decisions. Wrong decisions are costly.

We know the amount of decisions that go into building any room.

We help you circumnavigate the decision overload that comes with designing a house. It’s what we’ve been excelling at for 15+ years.

We ideate, organize and implement. We guide and smooth the decision making process to a simplified network of decisions. We design and handle all the details, from room design, floor plans, upholstery, window treatments, finishes, trim, and all the details in between. We handle procurement. We have a sourced and vetted team of fabulous contractors, vendors, artisans, and workrooms.

We supervise the final installation.

The Forgotten Details:

“The details are not the details. They make the design” - Charles Eames.

It is all about the details. It’s all details.

In the age of information overload, 85% of products are not appropriate for you. As a retail consumer, you're going, “Oh, my God. I could get it from here… and here, and here, here, here”, and you end up with a house full of bad mistakes that have cost you a lot of money. We are able to sort and curtail that and literally narrow the playing field to give you a solution for appropriate decisions that are much more cost effective for you.

Here is what goes into making your house beautiful: Floor Plans / Lighting Design / Lighting Selections / Color Consulting / Fabric Selections / Upholstery Selections / Furniture / Finishes / Custom Cabinetry / Shelving / Closet Design / Faux Finishing / Art Curating / Art Installation/ Custom Blinds / Custom Window Treatments / Kitchen Design / Bathroom Design / Tile Design & Layout / Stone Selections / Hardware / Wallpaper / Custom Bed Design / Art Selection / Custom Art Installation / Floor Design / Fireplaces / Media / Custom Mirrors & Glass / Custom Furniture / Custom Millwork / Antiques / Modern Furniture/ Sinks / Custom Rugs / Custom Tables / Counters / Custom Bedding / Linens / Glassware / Table Settings / Accessories / Upholstered Walls / Painting / Floor Refinishing / Custom Throws & Pillows.

It’s all details that make your home beautiful!

A real house with a copper pot for making jam, and sugar cookies in a metal box hidden deep inside a dresser. A long farmhouse table, thick and homey, and cretonne curtains... a guest room and- who knows- maybe even some guests. A well-kept little garden, hens who'd provide her with tasty boiled eggs, cats to chase after the field mice and dogs to chase after the cats. A little plot of aromatic herbs, a fireplace, sagging armchairs and books all around. White tablecloths, napkin rings unearthed at flea markets, some sort of device so she could listen to the same operas her father used to listen to, and a coal stove where she could let a rich beef-and-carrot stew simmer all morning along. A rich beef-and-carrot stew. What was she thinking. A little house like the ones that kids draw, with a door and two windows on either side. Old-fashioned, discreet, silent, overrun with Virginia creeper and climbing roses. A house with those little fire bugs on the porch, red and black insects scurrying everywhere in pairs. A warm porch where the heat of the day would linger and she could sit in the evening to watch for the return of the heron.
