Margaret Wilson

Since the Inception of Margaret Wilson & Co. in 1996, Margaret has had one guiding design principle: every room has to be designed in such a way that it makes the owner rediscover the beauty of what a home truly means.

As her Slovenian-Canadian mother used to say, “Ljubi doma, gdor ga ima” which roughly translates to, “love your home, if you have a home”. Home is where the heart is.

She strives to understand her client. Her human-centered design approach doesn’t just transform homes. It transforms homes into unique spaces that strike a delicate balance of beauty and comfort. From her floor designs to her color palette choice, all the way to her art selection, Margaret brings breadth and an air of warmth to spaces, making us fall in love with our homes again.

Starting out as a Fine Arts’ student in Canada and then finishing a BFA Interior Design Degree at FIT in New York, Margaret has always found the beauty in the world around her. Her eye for detail was turned towards Interior spaces one day when she visited a NYC Park Avenue apartment and the faux finishers were installing a painted canvas into the floor. “It was a painting of a Koi-Pond and it felt as if you were floating atop a pond”. Spaces for her became a 3-D painting that day and sparked her Interior Design vocation.

Interior design is like walking into a 3D painting, where beauty is created between colors, textures, and materials. MW's mission is not only to create divine living spaces but to teach people how to see. We tend to experience life with blinders on more often than we think. If we leave them on, we miss many of life's beautiful features. Interior Design is Margaret's vessel in which she teaches how to see by noticing how the smallest of features can impact a space so much, how colors influence the overall tone of a space.

Since 1996, Margaret has grown this business and has had the opportunity to work for celebrities, politicians, and other notable people and families.

From Modern I to Metropolitan, all the way to Farmhouse Classic.

Margaret is based in Bedford NY, she has spoken locally on interior design topics including "Design Living for Seniors". Margaret pursues her mission on teaching people how to see by teaching. She has taught interior design and color at SUNY Purchase College for many years, and facilitated the start of the summer youth program for Interior Design.

Above all, we do one thing - make you love your home.
